What are the top 5 200-hour yoga teacher trainings in Rishikesh for 2026?
The five schools below are Swaastik Yog School, Himalayan Yoga Association, Rishikesh Yogkulam, Rishikesh Yogpeeth and Vinyasa Yogashala. We rank our own school first. Schools 2 to 5 are listed in alphabetical order, not ranked against each other. Each suits a different kind of student.
1. Swaastik Yog School (Tapovan) — best for small, teacher-led batches at a fair price
Swaastik Yog School is a women-led Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200, RYS 300 and RYS 500) in Tapovan, founded in 2015 by Mayuri Shewale. Here is why we rank it first, in reasons you can check:
- The founders teach you. Mayuri Shewale (founder and head teacher, E-RYT 500, 15+ years) personally leads every 200-hour batch. Co-founder Rahul Badoni (E-RYT 500, 15+ years) teaches philosophy. You are not handed to a rotating junior team.
- 15 to 20 students per batch. Small enough for teachers to correct your alignment and watch you teach.
- $440 all-inclusive in the dorm. That covers 22 days of training, accommodation, sattvic vegetarian meals, materials and your certificate. Twin-shared is $880 and private is $1,100. Our dorms are gender-separate, so the $440 price is open to men and women.
- Two start dates a month: the 5th and the 15th, so you can fit the course around flights and leave from work.
- Women-led, with care for women travellers: female staff on campus and a written code of conduct.
- Winter-ready: heated halls and a heated blanket in every room from November to February.
Considerations: 22 days is more compact than the 24 to 25 days many schools use, so days are full. The dorm is bunk beds in bamboo cottages. Airport pickup from Dehradun (DED) can be arranged at extra cost. Teaching is in English. Full details are on our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh page, and you can check our listing on the Yoga Alliance school profile.
2. Himalayan Yoga Association — best for a resort-style campus with extras
Himalayan Yoga Association (himalayanyogaashram.com) runs a 25-day, multi-style 200-hour course that blends Ashtanga, Hatha and Vinyasa Flow. Its page lists 160 class hours plus 40 self-study hours and describes the course as Yoga Alliance certified.
Strengths: a wide range of room types, from 4-sharing (approx. $798) up to private (approx. $1,505). The listed price includes vegetarian or vegan meals, a 60-minute Abhyanga massage, weekend excursions, Dehradun airport pickup and Wi-Fi. There is an on-site spa and café, and many optional add-ons such as sound healing and Reiki.
Considerations: prices are shown as "30% off" a higher original price, so compare the price you will actually pay. Lunch and dinner are not served on Sundays. We could not find a published batch size. Batches run monthly, mostly from the 1st.
3. Rishikesh Yogkulam — best for a structured Hatha and Ashtanga course with extras included
Rishikesh Yogkulam (yogkulam.org) runs a 24-day residential 200-hour course in Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa, with Yin or Restorative yoga once a week. It is located in Jonk village, near Ram Jhula, and states batches of 15 to 20 students.
Strengths: a clear, detailed syllabus on its website. Twin-shared is approx. $999 and private approx. $1,299. That includes weekly excursions, free Dehradun airport pickup, an Ayurveda massage, a sound healing session and course materials. It describes its Yoga Alliance profile as a verified school.
Considerations: there is no dorm tier, so the lowest price is twin-shared. Air conditioning in select rooms costs about $120 extra. Courses start on the 1st of the month, and its page showed most 2026 batches as fully booked, so plan early.
4. Rishikesh Yogpeeth — best for a traditional Hatha course in an ashram setting
Rishikesh Yogpeeth (rishikeshyogpeeth.com) runs a three-week 200-hour course with Hatha yoga as the main style, at its residential Abhayaranya Yoga Ashram campus. It says it has more than 18 years of history.
Strengths: one of the longest-running names in Rishikesh, with a quiet ashram campus and a traditional focus. The fee includes tuition, accommodation, sattvic vegetarian meals, materials and yoga props. Dates are published far ahead, into 2028.
Considerations: it is the premium option on this list: approx. $2,250 twin-shared and $3,050 private, with a $400 non-refundable deposit. Its page says fees will be revised for batches from March 2027. Hatha is the main style, so it suits you less if you want Ashtanga or Vinyasa in depth. We could not find a published batch size.
5. Vinyasa Yogashala — best for multi-style flow with many short add-on courses
Vinyasa Yogashala (vinyasayogashala.com) runs a 25-day, multi-style 200-hour course in traditional Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow, near Laxman Jhula. Batches run from the 1st to the 24th of every month. The school says batches are usually 14 to 18 students.
Strengths: an energetic, flow-focused programme and a wide menu of other courses (Kundalini, Yin, sound healing, prenatal and more). The listed price includes accommodation, vegetarian or vegan meals, a kirtan night, a massage and weekend excursions.
Considerations: the cheapest tiers (4-sharing approx. $649 and 3-sharing approx. $799) are for women only. Twin-shared is approx. $999 and private approx. $1,199, and later 2026–27 dates show higher prices. Air conditioning is extra, and the balance is paid in cash on arrival.
