Matsyasana (Fish Pose): Open Your Heart & Lungs

Matsyasana, or Fish Pose, is a back-bending yoga posture that opens the chest, throat, and abdomen. It is often used as a counter-pose to Shoulder Stand (Sarvangasana).

How to Do Matsyasana

  1. Lie on your back with your legs together.
  2. Place your hands under your hips, palms facing down.
  3. Inhale and lift your chest and head off the floor.
  4. Tilt your head back and gently touch the crown of your head to the floor.
  5. Keep your weight on your elbows, not your head.
  6. Breathe deeply into your chest.
